Does passing this check mean my business is POPIA compliant?
No. It checks the signals visible on your website, such as a privacy notice and consent on forms. Compliance also covers how you store, secure and use information inside your business, which a website check cannot see.
What does POPIA require on a website?
In short: tell people what you collect and why when you collect it (section 18), keep it secure (section 19), and only send direct marketing with consent or to existing customers (section 69). Speak to a legal professional for advice on your situation.
Who is my Information Officer?
By default it is the head of the business, such as the owner or managing director, unless someone else has been appointed.
Is this tool free?
